These guys are one of a kind! Thank you Dan and Jeff and the whole team at Gary's Auto Care for fixing my car! Vehicle came in with a check engine light and this was the first shop I saw. Pulled in to their parking lot and walked in to ask about getting the check engine light inspected. Within minutes a tech walks out to my car and runs and checks the codes. The technician performs a few tests under the hood and then walks back to the office and goes over what is going on with my vehicle. Within a very short time the estimate was ready for my review and approval. Dan was kind enough to explain to me the details of what the procedure is to resolve my problem. Gave me a reasonable time frame and even offered to give me a ride home even though I lived on the other side of town. Jeff gave me a ride home and reassured me that everything would be done expediently. He even called me back after a couple of hours to let me know it was done and even offered to pick me back up and deliver me to my car. If you ever need exceptional service without the runaround these are the guys to go to. Genuine, trustworthy, and Fast service is what makes this business shine!

Stay away! They quoted one price then couldn't actually fix the problem but I still had to pay.

I am THRILLED to offer my appreciation and confidence in the service I was given yesterday at Gary's Auto Care & Tire Factory off of NE Columbia. New to Portland and down on my luck (at the moment) and as with all people apprehensive about finding a new mechanic in a new city, I have never felt more at ease, welcomed and further educated about my vehicle in all my life...true story!! As a female, we all know how it feels to go to a mechanic and feel like we are being taken advantage of, up-sold or other. Granted my dad did teach me a lot about my car before sending me out into the world so I did have an advantage of having some idea of what 'might' have been wrong with my car. As such, mechanic Mike simply diagnosed and told me 'precisely' what was 'necessary' to get my car back on the road 'safely' until I could afford secondary repairs those of which did not make my car 'inoperable' at the moment. For someone like me who is a caretaker, pet sitter, dog walker and a nomad at large, it was CRITICAL to get me safely back on the road. Can I get a 'sigh of RELIEF'......whew. I applaud a trust-worthy, honest and straight-forward business such as Gary's Auto Care & Tire Factory. Cheers to all of you and keep up the great work: Jeff, mechanic Mike, Dan, Bob AND Gary (why yes, I was lucky enough to meet Mr. Gary, the namesake of this business) which is very rare in such an industry. I was visiting Portland from Bend OR, and got a serious puncture in my tire. Sears told me they wouldn't fix it and I needed to buy a new tire for $170. Fortunately the couldn't get the tire till the next day. Meanwhile I stopped at Gary's and they fixed it in minutes with no waiting and no charge, and I was on my way back to Bend. Thank you.

I'm a fan of Gary's Auto. I really don't know anything about cars and I always feel like they explain things in a way I understand. They're in an industrial area but it's easy to find despite that. The service manager, Dan, is vegan which gives Gary's Auto extra cool points in my book.

Just picked up my Jeep from getting its oil changed friday and I have to say Ive never gotten better service from any repair shop in my life! The team at Garys always seems to go beyond my expectations as far as quality and price of any service. They use top quality parts and have very skilled mechanics that seem to be able to do anything from rewire an engine harness a mouse decided to get into to a simple oil change and tires to rebuild my engine and install my 6" lift kit. Very impressed with the range of skills and vehicles I always see in their parking lot. When I first moved here a few years ago I went to several other local shops before Garys and always walked out thinking I got ripped off, and constantly up-sold on things I didnt need. Ive referred many of my friends to them and they are all now regulars just like me:) Oh and one of the nicest things is they have 2 courtesy shuttles, I call them in the morning, they come to my work, pick up my Jeep and deliver it back to me before im off work!!

Took Honda in for a door lock problem. Was told repair would be $360. Called another mechanic we often go to, $160 estimate. When our mechanic took the door apart, they said the part was fine, just had a blockage. Gary's had the door apart as well. Never going back to these guys.

I've been going to Gary's several years and they have always been a reliable place to take any vehicle to for repairs. The staff are all very cool, knowledgeable and helpful. They make accurate estimates both on their time and the cost of repairs. Even better, their cost estimates are quite often a little less than quoted. I've even had them perform same-day repairs that include valve gaskets & axle replacements. The one time I took my Outback to a dedicated Subaru shop the repair took longer and cost more than if I'd just taken it to Gary's! The shop also does a courtesy shuttle, which is a big help! And yes, I am a little partial because one of the guys at the shop is vegan - rock on!
